Command Palette feature allows users to quickly access various browser settings and features via keyboard. For example, you can get access to bookmarks, recent tabs, clear cache memory, stimulating mobile devices, and even more. If you’re familiar with the feature PowerToys or VS Code, then you will easily understand how the Command Palette feature will work in the Edge browser.

Use Command Palette in Edge to Quickly Access Settings & Features

Right now, the Command Palette feature is available behind flags and interested users have to enable it first to start using it. Below in this blog post, we will share how you can enable and use the Command Palette feature in the Edge browser. So let’s get started:

Enable Command Palette (Bar) in Edge browser

Update or Install the latest version of Edge Canary v105 or above. In the Edge browser address bar, you need to copy-paste this: edge://flags/#edge-devtools-command-palette and hit enter. This will highlight the Command Palette flag. Using the drop-down change the setting from Default to Enabled and click on the Restart button to apply the changes. At thing point, you have successfully activated the Command Palette feature in the Edge browser and now you can access it.

Open Command Palette (Bar) in Edge browser

Click on the Ellipse (…) icon and select More tools > Command Palette. Alternatively, you can use Ctrl + Shift + Space keyboard shortcut to open Command Palette in the Edge browser. Instantly, the Command Palette bar will appear on the screen. You can start typing keywords in the input box. For example:

This will list all the available DevTools commands for the keyword. Press Down Arrow or Up Arrow to select a command, and then press Enter. The purpose of adding the Command Palette feature is to allow users to get access to features that normally require clicking through several menus or using a series of keyboard shortcuts. As of now, Microsoft is testing this feature in Edge Canary and there’s no information about when the Command Palette feature will become part of Edge stable.
