But according to The Wall Street Journal recent statement, the developers of third-party Gmail apps can read your personal emails and messages. The users who have subscribed for email based services that offer automated travel planning, shopping price comparison and other tools are highly exposed to this. This is frustrating how third-party apps have access to your Gmail messages. And all this because we never read terms and conditions while creating an account on online services. In reply to this dark secret, the Google’s Spokesperson stated that they vets all third-party apps developers before giving access to people’s personal emails. And they are ready to take strict actions against the developers following illegal practice.
How to Stop Third-Party Apps from Reading your Gmail
There is no doubt the Google will come up with the fix soon. In the meantime, you can take help of the following workaround to stop third-party app developers First of all, you need to visit Google Account settings. Here on this page, you will find a list of all the third-party apps that have access to Gmail account. Click on the app and look for the word which reads “Has access to Gmail” under Has access to section. Once you find it, click on Remove access button. Confirm the decision by making a click on OK button. This will stop third-party apps from accessing your Gmail account. You can repeat this step for all the apps one by one. During the process, you might find apps which are essential. But Removing access from those apps is the only thing which you can do if you really concerned about privacy and want to stop other users from snooping into your Gmail account. For better Gmail experience you can use Google’s services to stop using third-party apps entirely. You can do this until the company makes hard policies.
