How to Display iPhone Battery Percentage on Lock Screen in iOS 16

First off, it would be better to briefly delve into the change that has taken place for a better understanding.

Long Awaited Wish Has Just Been Fulfilled…

It’s worth pointing out that you can now also display the battery percentage of your iPhone in the status bar. Notably, Apple removed the battery percentage from the status bar with the introduction of the Face ID-equipped iPhone with a notch up top. Though there are multiple ways to check the battery percentage, many users found the disappearance of the battery percentage from the iPhone’s status bar disappointing. Hence, it had been on the wish list of a large number of users (me included). Couple this with the ability to keep an eye on the battery percentage right from the Lock Screen and Apple seems to have more than fulfilled the long demand of users. Enough talk, it’s time to get going with the quick steps:

Add Batteries Widget to iPhone Lock Screen

  1. To begin with, unlock your one using Touch ID or Face ID.
  2. If necessary, swipe left or right to find the wallpaper that you would like to customize.
  3. Note, hit the Customize button that shows up at the bottom of the Lock Screen wallpaper.
  4. Next, tap on the frame aka Lock Screen widget panel below the time reading.
  5. Next up, you should a menu with a variety of widgets. Find the batteries icon and tap on it.
  6. Up next, you would be presented with two types of battery widgets such as a square and a rectangle. You can choose to show both the battery widgets on the Lock Screen.
  7. As always, you can customize the Lock Screen with different fonts, and colors, and even tweak the background. To do so, tap on the time reading to bring up the font and color window. Then, tap on the “X” button at the upper right corner of the widget’s window to close it. After that, pick up the desired font and color. When you are happy with the customization, tap on the Done button at the top right corner of the screen.
  8. Next, you have two options:

Set as Wallpaper Pair: Choose it to set the wallpaper for both the Lock Screen and Home Screen. Customize Home Screen: Pick it to design your Home Screen separately.

For the purpose of this guide, I’m going to set this wallpaper for both the Home Screen and the Lock Screen. 9. Finally, make sure to tap on this newly customized Lock Screen so that it can come into action right away. That’s done! Do note that if you connect AirPods to your ‌iPhone‌, the widget will start showing the battery level of your earbuds instead of the battery level of your ‌iPhone‌. While it’s a bit weird, I would still not call it a dealbreaker. What about you? Read more: How to Add Medication or Vitamin to Health App in iOS 16 on iPhone
